On April 2, 2012, Dr. Gordon Huang and Jocelyn Crivea met with Professor Emeritus Dr. Garth Pickard to discuss sustainability initiatives in Saskatchewan.  Topics covered include the United Nations Regional Centre of Expertise on Education for Sustainability (RCE-SK) and Re-engineering Research and Learning for Sustainability, which is a long term initiative designed to engage all formal, informal and non-formal education practices, public awareness and training programs to address sustainability.

Community sustainability research and demonstration activities will be an important component of the IEESC.  Work is underway to establish connections and pursue interdisciplinary partnership opportunities, building on the University of Regina's status as a United Nations Regional Centre of Expertise on Education for Sustainability.
