Solid Waste Engineering

In the field of solid waste management, EIL undertook a number of studies for long-term planning of solid waste management systems using newly developed inexact-optimization and multicriteria-decision-analysis techniques. The studied cities include Hamilton, Regina, Bangkok, and Shenzhen, and EIL has been internationally accepted as an authority in this field. More recently, EIL members are endeavoring to advance an analytical simulation model for waste composting processes, where complicated 3-phase interactions are reflected. This research will be based on our strength in dynamic modeling of biological processes in porous media under uncertainty and complexity. It will be critical to automatic control of waste composting and will open a new field for advanced composting-process research.
